Activision confirms second MW2 map pack
Fri, 7th May 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

An Activision executive has confirmed during the company's financial earnings call that a second map pack for Modern Warfare 2 will be available for download in the second half of this year.

Activision's Thomas Tippl announced that the second half of 2010 will see Activision release not only the recently announced Call of Duty: Black Ops developed by Treyarch Studios but also a second map pack for Modern Warfare 2. No other details have been revealed other than the fact that the map pack will indeed be developed by the studio behind the Modern Warfare titles, Infinity Ward, or whatever is left of it.

It's also safe to assume that the second map pack should fetch a similar fee to the controversially priced first map pack for Modern Warfare 2, the Stimulus Package, if a comment made by Tippl is anything to go by. When queried about that map pack's high price point, which set New Zealand gamers back around $27 a pop for five maps, Tippl responded: "The $15 price point has still provided a fantastic value to gamers.. we think that has worked."

Microsoft's exclusivity period has ended and Modern Warfare 2's first downloadable content pack – the Stimulus Package – is now available for both PlayStation 3 and PC versions of the game. More here.
