Apple green lights iPhone Google Voice app
Wed, 29th Sep 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Word has it that Apple has approved the official Google Voice application, which could make its debut on iPhone over the next few weeks.

According to TechCrunch, a Google source claims the app has already been approved and Google only needs to make it work with iPhone 4 and iOS’s multitasking capabilities.

It’s been a long time coming though as Apple originally blocked the app, which went on to spark an FCC inquiry in the US. Apple claimed the official Google Voice application “duplicated existing functionality”.

A period of time then went by where not much happened before Apple made its decision to relax its development guidelines a little.

And here we are today, staring down the barrel of a Google App gun.
