Now it's Nokia's turn to target Apple in ads
Tue, 3rd Apr 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Following on from the series of Samsung commercials that lampooned Apple and the cult-like worship bestowed on the company by its fans, it seems Nokia has come out swinging against the incumbent smartphone vendor - as well as others in the space - with the launch of a viral campaign suggesting that smartphones have been in beta for the last five years.

The website, called Smartphone Beta Test, presents three supposed ‘hidden camera' videos of smartphone production meetings in which one developer raises issues with the devices but is shot down by two smug colleagues.

For example, in one of the videos, the developer points out how fragile the devices are, only to be told, ‘Say someone drops the phone and it breaks. Bingo, we just sold another phone'.

Of course, there's no specific mention of Nokia on the site, but there is a scribbled-out logo in one corner which fits Nokia at the edges, plus there's a countdown which will run out two days before the launch of the Lumia 900 on AT-T in the US.
