Check Point releases new software, hardware
Wed, 3rd Aug 2011
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Check Point has released a new ‘blade’, or module, to its security software suite, as well as new hardware products for carriers and data centers.

The software blade, RF75.20, allows organisations to filter URL sites, controlling access so that employees can visit locations like Facebook and YouTube provided it is for business purposes.

Check Point vice president of products, Dorit Dor, says the URL filtering function combines with Check Point’s application control and firewall functions to create a single web security solution.

"Organisations now have the ability to control access to millions of websites , applications and widgets with a single, unified policy,” Dor says.

"In addition to strengthening web control, the Check Point software blade architecture has helped us decrease network downtime and complexity, while simultaneously reducing total cost of ownership.”

Check Point also released two hardware products, the 21400, designed for data centers, and the carrier-grade 61000. The 21400 supports a 50GBps firewall, while the 61000 offers a massive 200GBps.

Check Point says new software blades due out soon will upgrade the carrier-grade product to 400GBps next year, and eventually 1TBps some time in the future.
