SnapperNet fills McAfee gap
Thu, 15th Jul 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Cyberoam and SnapperNet have signed a local distribution deal for solutions that both firms say are a perfect fit for New Zealand businesses.

A division of Elitecore Technologies, Cyberoam offers network security applications and claims over 12,000 deployments in 75 countries.

SnapperNet Director Richard Paul (pictured) believes that Cyberoam fills a significant gap in the New Zealand market.

“When McAfee discontinued their UTM firewalls, there was no solid alternative solution,” he said. “Cyberoam is that solution, and it even adds some extra features that the McAfee product didn’t have. They have a mid-high market feature set with a low market price tag.”

Cyberoam recently entered into a new partnership in Australia and quickly began looking for a New Zealand distributor.

New Zealand Business Development Manager for Cyberoam added, “SnapperNet has been the force behind major brands of Network Security in the region. With an established presence and support network in the region, we believe having SnapperNet as our distributor will benefit Cyberoam’s penetration into this market tremendously.”

“We’d actually made up our mind not to take on any new agencies this year.” Paul added. “But, after looking through the technical information they provided us and then evaluating a unit here, we approached some of our security resellers and got their opinions. The resellers were universally positive. Everything pointed to us realising we’d be mad not to take the brand on - it’s outstanding.”

SnapperNet isn’t currently looking for new channel partners to sell Cyberoam to.

“To begin with we’ll be focusing on our existing reseller base but if new resellers come along with the aptitude to sell and support the range, we’ll certainly welcome them,” concluded Paul.
