[UPDATED]The supplier of data protection solutions has appointed Paul O'Connell as Channel Sales Manager for Australia and New Zealand.

O'Connell's previous role was Business Development Manager for Nortel products at Westcon and Anixter. His new role will focus on growing Tandberg's business through partnerships with distributors and resellers.

“My priority with Tandberg Data is to work with key distributors and resellers, and where applicable end users, to help drive the business in Australia and New Zealand and to continue building on the company's strengths in the small to medium business (SMB) market,” O'Connell explained.

“While the storage market has evolved greatly in the past 5-10 years, and the range and diversity of storage solutions have increased, tape still has a vital role to play in best practice storage solutions.

Last February Tandberg Data launched a backup solution, which it described as a network-attached storage device that supported SATA and SAS hard disks as well as a number of other RAID configurations.
